Members of the Wilton Police Department attempted to stop a Honda, driven by local resident Ijebol Holmes, on the Merritt Parkway at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Friday morning, when he sped away near the northbound exit 42 in Westport, state police said.
The Honda was eventually spotted by a State Police trooper, still on the parkway, near exit 46 in Fairfield. When troopers attempted to stop Holmes near exit 52 in Trumbull, he allegedly sped up again in an attempt to flee police.
Holmes eventually was stopped, north of exit 60 in New Haven, when police utilized stop sticks to disable his vehicle. He was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving and two counts of illegal operation of a motor vehicle. He is being held on $50,000 bond as he awaits arraignment.
